For $40 today I got a GE radio repairman tube box, in good shape, full of tubes (half-wave rectifiers, vertical-deflection & other useless TV tubes), 2- tube testers that work (EMC & a Mercury 990), a thick Sylvania technical manual, and an RCA Receiving Tube Manual RC-24. It's all in good shape & cleans up nice.
There's maybe 20 or 30 tubes I can use in my stuff & since buddies occasionally bring me old brokedown radios to resurrect, some of the others may find a home.
You guys (& girls) are the only ones I can tell who would understand.

cool!
vertical-deflection
some make really nice AF amp power output tubes. 6V6 was also specified for use as vert. def. amp. 6CZ5? 6CM6? 6DB5? 6EM8? 6EZ5? 6GK6?

It was handy; but not that good.
In US TVs, custom was a half-12AT7 and a 2A3-like Power Triode in one jug. These make sweet several-Watt hi-fi amps. They may be too tame for guitar; also you will want another stage in front.
The vast majority will be tuned for 160V rail. So we are far off from guitar-world customs.
Most can be looked-up in RC-24. The Sylvania may be better.

I've looked up a few so far and while a lot of them may be useful to me, they have 7- or 12-pins, or the large 9 pin config. So I'll either need to find a source for these kinds of sockets or just let it go.

12-pins
compactrons? i've used them and sockets are still available - 6JB5/6HE5. probably better off with a TV restoration crowd though.

Large 9 pin sockets, magnoval, do you get el500 - el504 - el509 - el519 ?
About 12 pin tubes, here you can find some documentation about use
