I saw a diagram by sluckey for a twin preamp marshall and would like to build a similar amp. I would like to include a separate tone controls for both preamps. The fisrt preamp is a high gain jcm800 preamp for overdrive and distortion. The second preamp triode is paralleled and gained down for more of a clean sound. I will be using relays to switch between channels and tone sections.

It can be done. I have dabbled a little bit with this idea a few times. I almost built one a few weeks back but did not have the space in my chassis to do the dual preamp so I opted to go with the 2204 circuit. The 2204 doesn't have high gain IMO, it more of classic rock with a little more kinda gain.

Yeah i was originally going to build a torres high gain marshall but i also would to get some really clean tones out of it too then i found this on an older post from awhile back. That and i'd like to use a full double triode instead half a 5751 like the torres uses.

Garyboy, I bilt a amp similar to Mr. Sluckey's (but with 6V6's) years ago. I was thinking... 2204 would have lots more gain for lead and use the Plexi more for rhythm. I was surprised to find that the "Plexi-side" with the inputs jumpered had about the same gain as the "2204 side". Actually, if you dial up the 2204 to where it almost starts to break-up, it has a lovely rhythm sound. If I were to build another, especially with channel switching, I would make two totaly independent channels each with it's own MV. .02
