Title: Lap Steel and Guitalele
Post by: Madison on November 10, 2012, 04:26:02 am
I suck.
I have only had these for about a week.

The Teisco lap steel is from the 50s or maybe 60s.
The Yamaha Guitalele.6 stringed Uke.

Totally fun to play and make.
Hope you can enjoy.
I still suck!

Mics used:Naked Eye, Oktava
Preamp:Great River
Amp:built by me my "Super Princeton" 50 watt, UL, mods, etc etc etc etc.
Software: Logic Express 9
Software effects: on stringed instruments, none.

I love it!

Your getting it. Takes a little while to get the feel for sliding up/down to the notes and keep them from going sharp/flat.

I think that somewhere, George Harrison is smiling.  This is very cool. You're right, the intonation is a bit off here and there but I'm not in any position to criticize; I suck at lap steel, too. I think the percussion adds a lot of charm to the piece, which is a lot of fun.

Keep listening to those old Jerry Byrd records and post some more!

Hahah, that's a snapy fun little piece  :worthy1:

You are doing way better than me, cause I don't play slide at all.

Yeah, getting the bar in that sweet spot is pretty darn hard!
When you nail it you know it otherwise........blaaaaa.

Thanks for all the tips and the encouragement!
I need it lol.

Too much fun.
I'll keep plugging away.

BTW, no drinking involved (this time) when tracking this.
Though it sure does sound like it!

That's the feel part, you slide to it. After a while it becomes secondary nature.

IMO here's what's hard to play,    :m2     Hey, save some of those crawfish for me.

I have thought about playing it blindfolded.
Seriously.
I sometime try to play with closed eyes.
I think this is where the drive comes from.
But I worry if I change up and play a different slide, I'd be screwed because the feel and scale might be different?

Uh, used to have one laying around.
