Title: Speaker magnet-power tube interaction?
Post by: chuggy on December 01, 2012, 10:19:18 am
I'm considering assembling a combo amp with lowish gain cathode biased 6L6 x2 (no reverb or trem) and a Peavey Black Widow 1201 (big magnet) speaker that would sit with magnet within an inch of the power tubes.  Will this proximity make for problems?

Thanks
Jim

I've had power tubes VERY close to the speaker cab before.  Maybe close to an inch. They were 6V6's.

Not been an issue for me.  However, I would think if tubes are somewhat microphonic that it could be an issue.

with respect, Tubenit

A spacing of one inch should not be a problem.

Very close proximity has given some grief though:  http://www.chambonino.com/work/miscguitar/misc6.html (http://www.chambonino.com/work/miscguitar/misc6.html)
