anyone have a source for all the different options of crossline master volumes? A tech/builder that I respect a lot gave me a hint one time while we were talking about shorting the plates of the power tubes in a typical marshall type setup. AKA cerrem mod. he has a great product that gets that type of sound out of his preamp he built. the preamp includes the PI and his tip was this. "short the plates, just not the output tube plates" I know there was a very simple type of MV that people used to do to there marshalls way back in the day that most likely just a pot across the PI plates but ?? it wasnt a typical crossline. it was something simpler. just point me and Ill go.
thank you

May be you mean grids instead of plates, isn't it ?
I think you are referring to a crossline PPIMV

o.. I might not even use a power section on this buil.
although a crossline can be called a PPIMV , the PPIMV as we know it, doesnt do the same as a crossline mv.
this is something different. its a variation of a crossline so I was just wondering if there might be a compilation somewhere .
I had this mod in one of my amps way back wwhen I was about 17 . sold it and never looked at the mod. it created a lot of PI clip, almost too much. sounded like my old school by steely dan.
