Post by: Platefire on December 19, 2012, 11:47:37 pm
This is a home made song borrowing from Freddie King and a few others.

Hay thanks!

I listened to your Octaver clip last night. I was amazed at the fullness in sound. It almost sounded like you had a bass playing in unison with you. Tasty licks too. Plate

Yeah, it's a really fun effect to mess around with

You can do all sorts of cool things if you dial it in one way or another

Well---I know it's kind of rough. It's me playing live in my living room using a Digitech JamMan into my PA system as a backup band. Recorded on a Tascam 424 4-track cassett recorder and mixed down to computer using a ION MixMeister to I-tune program for MP3 format. I could pick myself to pieces on performance and come up with a lot of excuses but truthfully it's all and all pretty much standard Platefire performance--sometimes better sometimes worse :icon_biggrin:

Here's another one recorded at the same session. The wife is playing piano on this. A traditional type Hymn "When the Morning Comes"
that I converted to kind of Country/Blues/Rock:

Wow! Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I love live recordings because it just captures an element you just can't capture on a track by track built studio recording. Plate

Old Kentucky Hills is a song I first heard the New Riders of the Purple Sage do.....don't know if it's a cover or not? I don't think Jerry Garcia was playing with them on that record but it's a nice, layed back country song. I think it is avail. on youtube or other online sites?

In part it goes:
Chorus  Take me back to them old Kentucky hills of Tennessee.
Where the Mockingbird is singing high up in the Laurel tree.
Let that Alabama moon shine it's light on me.
Way back in them old Kentucky hills of Tennessee.

Vs. 1     My daddy was a rounder, wore a rounder's hat a coat.
He used to strum a banjo, but he couldn't play a note.
Momma used to tell me, smile upon her face.
If you want a second helping son, you'll have to say more grace.  (to Chorus)

Very nice work Plate!
Jim

ps  I STILL like Conviction Blues the best!!!  I may have to record that one, I hope you don't mind!

This is my version of "Jesus on the Main Line". The old Dell computer that I recorded it on crashed and couldn't recover. All I had left was a cassette of this song so it has been recorded to CD and now to MP3.

Hey Bob,
I truly enjoyed your tunes.  Great moving music with a shot of praise.  Good stuff.  I play in our church band on weekends with my wife on keyboard/piano, grandsons on drums and bass and son lead singer.  He's also our Pastor.  Keep on keeping on...
Thanks for posting,
John

Hi John

Thanks! Wow--on your praise band you really got a family thing going. That's great!

On my recorded stuff it's mostly electric blues/rock oriented. The wife and I do praise & Worship at church every Sunday morning & Sunday nite. I mostly do acoustic guitar contermporary praise(some traditional), wife acoustic piano and we have church bass player and drummer. I usually also work in a couple electric solid body guitar numbers too. Thanks for the encouragement!!!! Bob
