Title: should i choke it or just resist!
Post by: shooter on January 02, 2013, 04:01:49 pm
Hey, my 1st build was a 5e1, the next a parralel 6L6 psuedo GA-8.  after both were up n i was looking over options for #3 I came up with 2 questions.  in the real world is there much differance in filtering between r/c n L/c on the power rail?   on the 5e build there is only 1 wire from the pwr rail connecting to the screen-OT-plate, where the ga8 build the OT-plate gets the 1st rail tap, R, then the 2nd tap thru a 1k to screen.  Does that make the 5e1 triode configured?

thanks

dave

LC produces a smoother dc than RC.

No.

FWIW my experiments with a 5F2A circuit definitely benefitted from a choke between the rectifier and the plate node.  IOW a c-l-c filter first in the power rail.  Duncan's PSU may be helpful if you like virtual experiments.
