Title: D'Mars ODS clean soundclip
Post by: tubenit on January 04, 2013, 07:15:26 am
Nothing special here ......................

Just a demo of the D'Mars ODS on clean with midboost. I'm finding that I like that tone quite a bit. Don't use it as much as the OD, but I do think it is a fairly smooth tone.

VERY nice tone! Great clarity and smoothness!

Which MidBoost is this / how implemented? This? >> http://www.el34world.com/Forum/index.php?topic=14302.msg141143#msg141143 (http://www.el34world.com/Forum/index.php?topic=14302.msg141143#msg141143)

I don't use the midboost on mine, and would like to have it as an option, but not to my liking as is (original version), so just checking to see if this is the current version I'm hearing in this clip. If so, I'll change my DMODS to this configuration (or whatever one you are using in this clip)

Cool chops, too!

TIA, G

Thanks!

I'll trade my tone and playing for yours ...........   :icon_biggrin:

It's the midboost on reply #8 on the thread that you listed. I'm not using the traditional Dumblish values.

I am having to retrain myself on how to play guitar with the D-style amps. I've always tended to pick the strings pretty hard ......... and those amps have a sweeter tone picking more lightly. Still picking too hard but I am learning to make a little progress with this.

With respect, Jeff

Great! I'll try those values/setup in my preamp & see what happens.  THANKS!

Very sweet tone Jeff! I can hear what you're talking about, seems very sensitive to how you're picking.  I think that's what makes it sound so rich.

I'm listening to it now - the amp sounds great. If I could make one suggestion, it would be this: I think you should either dump the echo or commit to it and use a longer delay. To me, the slapback hurts the amp's tone by confusing the tone. A longer delay wouldn't do that so much but (of course) it would be even more prominent unless you lowered its level. Personally, I think It would sound just fine with a bit of reverb and nothing else.

None of the amps I make ever seem to get that Dumbly quality (or whatever it is - I've never played a Dumble; maybe its Trainwreck but I've never played one of those either) but I have had so much trouble in the past working with high gain circuits that I pretty much stay away from them since I'm such a terrible builder, LOL. Yours sounds just great!
