Here's a quickie I did by request from Jeff
I didn't spend any time making it pretty
Everything was one take and off the cuff
01/24/2013 - I remixed it. I boosted the backing track bass and set the levels a bit better

That was incredible! You weren't just a woofing about being able to play the tune! Man, I can hardly believe that you could pull that off so well without practicing for weeks and doing multiple takes. Unreal!

Really, man ........... I'm stunned that you get those licks and that tone out so well and (apparently) so easily.
Very very cool version of it! I loved it. If you'd been invited up on stage by Robin and played that lead ............... I think he would've really enjoyed it.
THANKS for doing that! That was a very fun listen. I'll give this one about a dozen more plays.

I've listened to this a handful of times already ...............
Honestly, if someone had posted this stating it was Trower playing at some club, I would not had doubted it for a minute. Your timing, rhythm and phrasing is pretty amazing on this tune. You even nailed the tone and feel of the tune.
I would have presumed this was Trower playing it a little differently than his record. Sort of like how Billy G. "live" doesn't always sound like
ZZ Top recordings. I would've thought maybe Trower had gotten tired of playing all the exact same recording notes and decided to just cut loose and enjoy a new groove.
I've liked just about everything you've ever posted ............ but I am really pretty blown away by your ability to pull this tune off. I thought you'd do something that sounded good but the talent behind this one genuinely surprised me. Very impressive.
It's honestly that good, IMO.

Robins phrasing is way better than I can pull off
The way he does al those very subtle note bends is very difficult to do
That song no time on the Passion album pretty much is the best at how good Robins playing can be

Having said that, ............ his playing on that one tune isn't far outside your reach, IMO. Listened to your tune for the 7th or 8th time but with headphones.
You got alot of cool stuff going on in that tune. Headphones make for a cool listen.
I think if Robin had called you up to take a lead on that tune, you could hang with him.

Woooo! Doug, didn't know you had that in ya! Sometimes a quick take is more inspirational than wareing yourself on many takes---i think this is the case. There is fire in the hole!!

Every once in a while i go back and refresh my memory by having another go at it

Well ............ listening on the cheapo home computers ........... the bass just about drowned out your great lead guitar work & everything else.
I liked the first one alot better. The guitar cut thru and was pretty clear. Sounds pretty muffled to my ears now.
It may be the computer speakers can't handle the bass? My headphones are at my office so I can't check it out with those.

Yeah, I was listening on a system with 18 inch woofers
It's swamping my computer speakers here also
I'll fix it tommrow

I dropped the levels back to where they were
You can check it out and see how it sounds on small speakers
I only have a big sound system near me right now
The bass sounded great on the big system but it swamped my tiny computer speakers at home

Yeah, that sounds good to me. Listened to it with headphones and small computer speakers.
Still plenty of bass, IMO but the guitar is cuts thru better.

Hey Doug that's cool.
It's also tough when recording to get a live feel when you're basically doing the whole performance as an overdub. You captured a very "live" vibe on this. And the playing aint bad either :icon_biggrin:
