Everytime I go to see my Doctor for a Checkup he ask my about my amp projects and tells me about his Vox Super Beatle that he's had all these years that still works that now has a hum in it. I've kind of shyed away from it because it's SS but have a feeling it's a matter of time before I'll be working on it. I figure it may just need new filter caps but who knows? Has anybody had any experiance with these? Plate

I had a lot of dreams about owning one back in high school. Best looking amp this ole country boy ever saw. Then that sparkly roll 'n tuck stuff came out. Then I grew up. Never looked back.
Tell him you'll take it on if he has a good amp health plan!

> has a hum in it.
Does he remember what the Line Reverse switch is for?
Cleaned the input jack?
Next diagnosis (each diagnosis should cost him) is 40++ year old filter caps.
Yes, a Cap Job.
Start at C310-C311 and work along to C316.
Two: 4,700uFd 50V
470, 2,000, 1,000 at 50V
470 at 35V
470 at 10V
That should kill all power-ripple hum.
But it is begging for *all* electrolytics to be replaced. As they age and fail you get anythng from no-balls to no-sound, with some creaky along the way. There are a LOT. For this, he should buy your Shingles vaccine or do a free skin-bump biopsy (cutting AND labwork).

Har, that's funny you mention that, he gave me a perscription for the Shingles Vaccine today! This was my first trip to the doctor with my medicare card--where he advised me that medicare coverage was diminishing because the funds were being drained to pay for Obama care.
I think he's a little afraid of letting me get my hands on his amp because he knows payback is tough$$$$$---better have AmpSheild High Option! and hope I'm a preferred Provider!
