This is a PDF of a project I'm working on. Basically, it's kinda trivial but I think some will find it useful and it's viable because AdaFruit is selling stackable 10-position push up/down switches pretty cheap. Note that this was written with the lowest-common denominator electronics hobbyist in mind.
Also, in the PDF I say I'm using 1/4W resistors but it turned out that 1/2W were about the same cost at DigiKey so I went with those.

Cool project! Love those cool switches.
OTOH, a box stuffed with standard value resistors and/or capacitors is usually very handy, with no pressing need for lots of in-between incremental values. When that is needed -- like maybe for a bias circuit -- I use a pot wired as a variable resistor for test/design purposes. Got that idea from Doug's Library Pages.
