Has anyone in this group felt the need to do this for cosmetic reasons? Personally, I'd rather the amp worked properly than "look right".

My Sovtek Mig60 has these Russian cap cans that are essentially unobtainium. I couldn't find original replacements and current offerings were of the incorrect values or physical size. They were likely old stock Russian parts even when "new". There is plenty of room inside the chassis. When I re-capped it just disconnected the cap cans, retired them in place and installed axial caps as replacements. No vacant holes in the chassis. The amp looks totally stock unless you look under the hood. I have seen instances where people have 'rebuilt' cap cans in amps where there was not enough room for any other option.
