Title: Kawai KM 60 "POPPING!"
Post by: TerryD on October 03, 2013, 09:47:15 am
I bought this keyboard monitor from the local pawn for the ultimate toy..the Boss RC 300. It's now my backup band.  In any case, I'm getting a loud "POP" intermittantly..not related to anything except it gets more frequent ..for sure..as the amp is on longer..."hotter??"  I have it open and poked around with a wooden chop stick to see if I can get it to pop.  I get a little bit of popping on a certain small capacitor but not much but maybe its a red wire next to it.  Now that everything is open and I hit that cap/wire several times or more, I'm not getting "popping"?

Any thoughts?

Another curious thing.  A previous owner cut the "trace"?? "board connection" to what looks like the effects send loop.  Why would someone do that?  I soddered a wire to connect it again, hoping that was the pop...it wasn't.

As always Thanks, Terry

my best guess would be a bad solder joint. I don't know why someone would cut the trace, but I used to do stupid stuff when I tried to fix things I knew nothing about.....could be a hacker with a knife and too much free time?
