Title: Built some ribbon mic's
Post by: TubeGeek on October 13, 2013, 12:18:45 am
I ordered a few ribbon mic kits to build a few weeks ago.

They are supposed to be comparable to a Royer 121.  I think these actually sound better!

Super easy to assemble.

Here is a short clip of the ribbon mic through my DIY millennia style mic preamp.

That sounds fantastic.  You corrugated and mounted the ribbon yourself?  That part scares the crap out of me.  I have dumb fingers.

No I didn't corrugate the ribbon on these.  I would have if I could have though.  The ribbon motor's came pre-assembled.

Ah ok, gotcha.  Looking on their website, it looks they either come preassembled, or if you can get just the motor.  I don't see a kit that includes everything you'd need for the full mic.  Is that something they used to have?

I just emailed the designer and asked for kits.  I ordered 15 kits from Artur.  If you're looking for the kit I'd recommend emailing him.
