Does anybody out there have a layout for a 5E9-A? I quickly searched and did not find one. It seems folks have been building them. Are you guys just following Fender's layout?

SLW ,
For the heater do not follow schematic or layout . One heater side are to the ground , this make amp noisy .
Use two twisted wire for heater ( like Blackface amps ) circuit with a center tap to ground ( on Power Transformer ) or artificial center tap with two 100 ohms resistor
-
The heaters will be hooked up in the new modern way with an artificial center tap. I was hoping to find a hoffman style layout. I have looked at the hoffman layout for the 5E3. I could start with that and modify it for the Tremolux. I thought I would ask here if anybody has one they used.

Look a any Fender Blackface schematic
Any Fender Blackface amp use the right heater wiring you need, do the same . Forget if it is not same tubes or more tubes . Heater circuit are always same .

No need sketch or layout for heater ;
Your power transformer have two wires for heater if no center tap . Solder one wire to one side ( pin 4-5 ) of heater pin all the 12XX7 tubes heater and the other wire to the other side heater pin ( 9 ) on each 12XX7 tubes.
6V6 heater is pin 2 and 7
On each 12XX7 tube , heater pin 4-5 shoud be solder together
-
Or in other word ; do the heaterwiring like you original layout except remove tube 's heater side from the ground and put the second wire to these socket pin.
Short skettch , just need two 100 ohms resistor from each heater wire to grounf fot Center tap
6V6 pin 7 12XX7pin4-5 12XX7 pin4-5 12XX7 pin 4-5 12XX7 pin4-5
PT heater _________o__________o___________o____________o___________o
6V6 pin 2 12XX7 pin9 12XX7 pin 9 12XX7 pin 9 12XX7 pin 9
PT heater _________o___________o___________o___________o____________o

Very nice amp Tubeswell

I wish I never sold the 5E9 I used to have...

I enjoy building with turret boards and find Hoffman's layouts work great. With a little creative cut and pasting you could use Doug's 5E3 layout for the preamp circuit and his AB743 layout for the phase inverter, power amp and trem sections. Your parts values would be different and you don't want the negative feedback circuit but the placement of parts on the board would be proper.

That's because in these amps, the chassis was used as one of the "heater wires" throughout.
Yes, we don't do it that way anymore.
EDIT: Oops... you were talking about the power cord ground wire. :BangHead:

Boy Tubeswell that is one pretty amp you have there!
Thanks for your suggestions stratele52. It is very kind of you to offer help. I have built a few amps now with two heater wires and the artificial center tap. I understand that pretty well.
When looking at the layout from the library I noticed the trem tube was next to the 6V6's. On the amps I have built up to now the PI tube is next to the power tubes so I found it strange. I am sure Leo had his reasons for this and who am I to argue with what has obviously worked. But I can't help but wonder if it makes more sense to switch them.

In some amps tremolo tube need to use bias of the 6V6 , closser is often easier.

watts tube audio makes the turret board for this amp. If you wanted to build this amp what kit would be the closest to it for all the other parts? Looking at tedweber amp kits the 5E5A has the right amount of tubes and pots but does have a 15" speaker int the kit. I am not sure what transformer are needed. I just found this thread and listened to some videos of this amp and it is incredible. How there isnt a kit out there is unbelievable. Obviously you would have to source out other needed board parts and possible value changes to this

The 5E5 is the tweed Pro, and has 2x 6L6's. The 5E9 was the tweed Tremolux, and had 2x 6V6's.
The right kit to get (assuming you never find one someone claims is exactly the 5E9) would be the 5E3 Deluxe. That's because the "Tremolux" was the "Tremolo-equipped Deluxe". It was basically the 5D3 Deluxe with tremolo added, but in a bigger cabinet.

I ended up having Mr. Hoffman custom drill a board for me. I ended up copying the fender layout with a couple of small changes. I moved all of the 68K resistors to the input jacks. I added screen resistors to the board and I have a spare set of turrets in case I want to separate the cathodes of V1. I bought all of my parts first. I printed out the turret board template, put double sided tape down the middle and stuck the parts in place. I think it worked out well.

:sad2: My bad, what I meant to say was that the chassis faceplate looked right and right amount of tube sockets. I never even looked at the circuit, sorry. Can we get a picture of the board if you got it? I would prefer Hoffmans style over watts, I like the Idea of having everything on one board
