Title: Mojotone Princeton Reverb tubes from the kit
Post by: lego4040 on October 30, 2013, 10:17:08 am
Hello, Im hoping to order the Mojotone Princeton Reverb complete kit soon. I can keep tubes with kit or option out and save 109 dollars and source my own. I havent played a different amp in about 6 years and not up to speed on the tube world these days. The kit comes with All JJ Tubes: 2 JJ Electronic 6V6 Tubes
1 JJ GZ34/5AR4 Rectifier Tube
3 JJ Electronic 12AX7 Preamp Tubes
1 JJ 12AT7 Preamp Tubes.
I gone thru the parts page here for tubes and seems I can get a better selection here with only a few more dollars.
I would love some input as this is going to be my second kit build

I certainly don't want to take any business away from Doug, but if I was going to build my second kit, I'd get ALL parts from the same supplier. Doing so 'may' avoid possible support issues down the road.

That makes sense, Ill reach out to this guy who has built dozens of mojo's amps for customers and get some feedback there too. Thanks for that info

I build mojo kits quite often and never order the kits with their tubes.  I prefer to select different brands than getting JJ's for everything.

I am working on a mojo princeton reverb kit this week. Hope to have it finished today or tomorrow!

As for tubes...I have been using the new production 6v6 tung-sol's and I like them.

I like ge 12at7's and mullard and tung-sol new production 12ax7's.  Of course I'd use NOS tubes if they are available and test good.
