Title: 6160 tuner
Post by: johnesim on November 15, 2013, 07:44:46 am
I just finished a gretsch 6160 from scratch, cab, board. had a few bugs that i got worked out, but i can not get the tuner to work.  it is about the most simple curcuit in the amp, only half of the 12AX7 is used.  I have noticed that the tremol curcuit likes a few of the same manufacture of tubes they are all jj electronics tubes.  I am trying to track down a scope for futher checks.  The amp sounds great much better than my blues jr. any help would be great. i have checked the caps and resistors and traced my wiring many times starting a diffrent point.  thanks again

Any link for schematic ?

I would keep looking for wiring errors and/or wrong component values. Compare tube voltages to the tube voltages for the tremolo oscillator. The circuits are functionally identical except that the tuner uses smaller caps and resistors in the phase shift network in order to produce an audible frequency.

Schematic is on this website.
