Title: fender blackface vibrolux reverb socket wiring help
Post by: michael on December 14, 2013, 01:23:49 am
hi, on the 12at7 tube 3rd from right that hooks to reverb transformer. on the layout schematic it has pin 8 and pin 3 folded towards each other and connected ..soldered together. then another wire stripped back to reach from pin 7 to pin 2 soldered together. i have a photo of an open original chassis wiring and it looks like where pin 8 to 3 and pin 7 to 2 cross each other that they are soldered to each other.  is this correct??? or are they independent of each other??? thank you for your help im rewiring a wire gutted amp

Pins 3 and 8 are connected together. Pins 2 and 7 are connected together. And pins 1 and 6 are connected together. These three pairs are not connected to each other. IOW, the two triodes inside that 12AT7 are connected in parallel and operate as a single tube.

And while Fender did it by bending the socket lugs in the old days, we're all probably better off using a short length of insulated wire to do the same job today.
