Title: Free signal generator for IPad
Post by: stevehoover on December 19, 2013, 09:44:56 am
I have been trying to track down the source of a parasitic oscillation in a Dual channel single ended build that has been bugging me for a long time.
Playing double stops and chopsticking at the same time is difficult and possibly dangerous as well.
I needed a signal source that would give me two or more tones simultaneously, but hands free.
My signal generator and scope are still in storage so those are out for now as well.

I noticed today that Garage Band for IOS was free on ITunes for the IPad......ok I'll take a shot.
The grand piano selection with "sustain", no reverb/echo and 3/4 "velocity" setting was perfect.
(The guitar selection had a funky string vibration artifact that sounded similar to the IM distortion that I am trying to eliminate.)
A simple recorder is also part of the package.
A Very clean signal and it repeats as long as you need it...yes!
Can't wait to try this with the chopsticks and my new-used 1000V insulated screw driver.

I'll report my results ASAP...
