Title: More money than brains
Post by: Guitarzan on December 28, 2013, 04:21:00 pm
Does anyone else think that this is proof that way too many people have more money than brains?

this stuff and especially the craqp that's coming outta the "Custom Shop" ticks me off to no end. They have gone to a vent in the rear panel and a slotted chassis on thre newest version of the 5F1 that they're making now. Why? I'm guessing it's because they are using underrated components and Chinese crap to boot. I use top shelf materials, a Weber 8F150 speaker, NOS tubes, and I'm lucky if I can break even on one. You can run mine wide open all day long and without any vents in the chassis. Ever see what the inside of a computer looks like? Now rethink those slots and vents.
I apologize guys but I just really have to "vent" NPI (no pun intended). I got my property tax bill and will prolly have to sell off stuff that I love to make ends meet and these guys are getting obscene prices for inferior or incomplete JUNK!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR :BangHead: :cussing:
OK. I'm done. again, I'm sorry. :dontknow:

I've already started...sort of. I've been having a little trouble getting pics to post but check these out (if they work) and notice the attention to detail. Wire management, ends dressed with heat shrink to keep the cloth from fraying and in my 5F1 knockoffs, you can run them dimed all day because I use overrated components and the entire back panel as a heat synch. BTW, since this "Champ" shot was taken I have since applied the correct tag on the front and vellum tube chart on the inside.

You might also notice the Mills non-inductive resistors in the power rail.
About 10 X as expensive as a ceramic or even an old Ohmite wire wound,

G-man
Just so you know, sometimes the "correct" hardware is hearly impossible to find as well. Check out the baffle board screws on my Champ. There is (to my knowledge) only one source for those and when the had them dipped the correct color, it clogged the threads.
One almost has to chase the threads of each screw with a die of thew correct pitch and TPI. It's a real nightmare.
