Title: Removing sticky tape residue from tolex
Post by: Tone Junkie on February 23, 2014, 01:51:11 am
Whats the best way to get it off without ruining the tolex. I  got a brand new head cab that had tape stuck to it for a while I left it in the box and didn't see it. I didn't want to grab my favorite solvent and wreck it so thought I would ask first.
Thanks Bill

Get that citrus cleaner. You'll use it on everything.

Goo Gone is another good one. Pure mineral spirits (paint thinner) is as good as it gets. I always keep a gallon around for cleanups like this. I rarely use it to thin oil based paint.

Cool thanks guys I think I have all 3 sitting here now . I just didn't want to ruin a new cab who would have thought some masking tape would leave such a sticky nasty mess .

Naphtha - also know as lighter fluid.

Test anything in an inconspicuous spot first of course, but I've never seen naphtha damage any surface.
