Title: Reverb will not turn off after repair. SUPER REVERB fender
Post by: jameslaw500 on February 23, 2014, 03:18:38 pm
I replaced the Tank, Transformer and have a new footswitch, replaced these in a Fender Super Reverb 1969 silverface. Reverb sounds great but will not turn off. with footswitch. It is on all the time. All I had done to the reverb circuit was replace the Tank and Tube and TRANSFORMER. new caps and bias resistors. I am thinking I have the transformer wired in backwards. Please help, must fix so sale will go thru. first time I ever say this. jameslaw500@yahoo.com
the footswitch is a direct fender replacement from Hoffman, both switch work correctly and have good continuity when on, open circuit when off.

The footswitch is at a point in the circuit after the transformer and tank. If the footswitch was working properly, the reverb would turn off.

Check the footswitch for continuity from hot to ground while switching. It should show continuity at one moment, then not with another switch click.

The footswitch itself should be a dual type for reverb and trem, with the shielded wire plugged into the reverb footswitch jack. It will be obvious which this is with an original Fender footswitch, as one plug has a braided shield and the other does not.
