I just had this custom built by a local electric guitar maker - mahogany body with surfboard stripes, rosewood f/board, P90s (individually switchable), bigsby, gotoh tuners, schaller bridge.
-
Beautiful!!!!
Yeah man, mahogany, rosewood, P90's AND a Bigsby!!!!!

WOW!
I've got a close friend that's been trying to steer me into a Tele for a while...AND I've been wanting a 3--- P90 guitar
That thing looks like the best of ALL worlds...
Are the 3 slider switches (above the neck pickup) just individual on/off for each pickup?
Very cool!

Yup each p'up has its own on/off switch (on the triple switch plate). In addition the two other switches on the Vol/tone plate are for phase reverse on middle pup and tone cut switch.
-
Well done. Guy built one hell of a guitar. I am sure you will enjoy it for a long time.

Really top shelf. I like gold hardware and it blends very well with the tint of the wood. I bet it's a joy to play. Platefire

Sweet guitar. Does have the surf music sounds to go with it?

Yes it looks kinda goldy in the photos, but its all actually chrome hardware (with the gotohs having a slightly goldy tinge)

Very nice! Are the stripes a different wood or stain?

Yes that's what it is.

That's a big daddy macker and mighty sick stick brudda tubeswell!!! Are those noiseless P-90s by any chance? Also good placement & type of switches as they can't be accidentally hit or switched easily punching an off the lip aerial or catching a rail throwing you over the falls in epic failure. j/k it should keep you shacked for a lifetime!
But if you're gonna be playin' surf music with a surf guitar then I gotta give you boys a little surf-lingo and lesson if I may? The "stripes" or "laminations" are called stringers as used on a surfboard. Their purpose is to mainly give strength to the foam & finished board but for longboards (logs) they also provide style too, yeah? They are not just for looks though and depending on wood type, thickness, & total number used contributes to the overall weight and flex of the finished board which are important factors regarding performance.

Thanks for the surfin lesson jojokeo. Yup - Paduak stringers for surfin' performance. P90s are standards with a phase-reverse switch (down by the volume control) for the middle pup. It sings really nicely

Awwwwwww man, I had made myself forget about this guitar since it was made in New Zealand. Now you had to make a cool recording. It sounds beautiful. Has a touch of bigsby twang, but mainly just very balanced sounding. Thanks for the clip.

nice guitar. I love custom one-off stuff becuz it's personal and has style. good job. I love mahogany bodies almost as much as Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader bodies. I built (with the help of a master woodworker) a 3 piece aged walnut LP style custom. the wood is "at least 50 yrs. old since first harvested." I am using Duncan Pearly Gates in the bridge and alnico 5 Jazz in the neck.
adios amigos, :icon_biggrin:
