Have to replace the power transformer in this amp. Customer brought in a Mercury replacement. Looking for Egnater tweaker 40 schematic to make sense of things. Specifically I want to confirm the power transformer's primary winding connections to the voltage selector switch. Never seen one wired like this so I'd like to know whats what.
I have emailed Egnater and requested info. Just thought perhaps I'd get it quicker from you guys!
-
Have you done a web search. (google search engine) There is a lot of information, I found based on this search string "Egnater tweaker 40 schematic" The first thread had several schematics.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Yes I searched for the schematic and came up empty. All the schematics that you see were not for the actual tweaker 40.
I am going to wire up the new PT bypassing the voltage selector switch I am questioning.

Funny, I just saw the Tweaker and Tweaker 40 at Banjo Center today...
Let me know what you think of the amp's sound. The ones here are cheap enough (even buying the head and cab) that it might be worth picking up if it's not awful. I know I liked the compact size.
-
I am not impressed with the sound to be honest. Lots of switching options and it still sounds synthetic and filtered to my ears.
-
Was that through the stock speakers or some others you have lying around?
I was eyeballing the head and thinking, "I could probably rebuild the cruddy bits inside to something else/better." And eyeballing the cab thinking, "I could put in non-crap speakers."
Just wonder if the cabs, chassis and transformers are worth paying the going price for the amp & cab.

Oops! Just read a *bunch* of forum posts about power transfomer failures and crappy service on warranty repairs. I think I'll waste my money on something else. :icon_biggrin:

Good plan. The amp and cabs are built to a low price point. I'd look elsewhere for quality.
Yes these amps seem to be plagued with bad PT's.
My test speaker is a Vintage 30.

I have a Combo Tweaker 15. It came with a heritage greenback. I really like the thing, but I do not care for the 40 at all. I put some NOS tungsol and RCA Black 12Ax7 and it is really a nice sounding amp. I have ran it hard and put it up wet and no problems at all.
I have had it for 3 or so years and it gets played 3 or 4 times a week.
I called to get a Schematic as I wanted to let more bass through for playing at low volumes and they would not send me one. Answered the phone without a problem. It was actually Bruce who answered the phone. It is your Chinese stuff, but it was better than I expected.
I replaced the hot switch with a footswitch for a gain boost and just traced the cap returning to the tonestack and put a larger one in it and it turned out great. It really does not need it, but I like a lot of bass when playing my L5 at practice levels. I bought the amp as a home practice amp, but have used it many times for small places. Has a nice volume and a meaner attack than my Princetons.

I have recieved two separate emails from Egnater folks, both with the schematic attached. It's nice to know their service isn't as bad as I read about on other forum posts.
The amp had been finished and picked up by the customer before I got the schematics but that's ok.

TubeGeek, I have that same amp on the bench in for MM transformer replacement. Would you mind e-mailing me a copy of that schematic? sbuczko at comcast.net. Thanks punky

Anyone have the Tweaker 15 schematic or set if pre and power are separate? If too large to post, please send to echambley at yahoo dot com. Thanks!

Hello All -
Brand new to the forum and loving it already. I found you searching for an Egnater Tweaker schematic, either the 15w or the 40w version. Mine's lost at least the mains transformer, if not the output transformer as well.
Appears this is a major problem with the Egnaters now, with all variants failing regularly. When checking on replacements, had that confirmed by one of the U.S. transformer suppliers. :(
Loved it beforehand - consensus seems to be great amps with bad Chinese transformers. Tough as a manufacturer; I've been there myself when you get a run of bad parts- hard to make it right for everyone.
So I'm trying to do the trouble-shooting and repairs myself to save some $$. Old enough to have worked on television transmitters and 2 inch tape machines with tubes, so hopefully some of that knowledge is still rattling around in there. If anyone has the schematic, I would appreciate it if you would mail it to jterry at churchillterry dot com - many thanks in advance!

Hello! New guy here. Signed up after reading through some threads about Tweakers. Yup, I have a 40, and yup, it's blown the PT. I was liking it until then!
Can anyone send me the schematic so I can give it to my repair guy? I'm a guitar tweaker, not an amp tweaker....lol

Hi - I realize that I'm a little late to the party, but I'm singing the same tune... I have an Egnater Tweaker 40 head with a blown PT. I have the replacement PT from Mercury on hand, but would like to cross reference with the Tweaker schematic. Could someone who has it be so kind as to email it to me? my email is jeff.rutland@gmail.com. Would be very much appreciated - thanks.

Check yer email.
I have emailed what I have to Doug so they'll be added to the schematics library soon I hope.
