Title: Jschem problem on Windows 7 64bit - How to solve ??
Post by: kagliostro on April 18, 2014, 02:52:48 am
I was constricted to update my PC so now I run under Windows 7 64bit
I must say I'm satisfied of the new OS but I encounter a problem
I'm no more able to use Jschem, if I start the program I receive a warning
telling me that I've no Java installed on my PC on the contrary I've the last Java disposable installed
Please, can someone give me help ?
Thanks
K

EDIT: I solved the problem, instead to download and use the Windows version of Jschem (.exe), I downloaded the Any other OS version (.jar), this last has no problem with my Windows 7 64bit + Java 7.55 64bit

I don't install the 64 bit java on my 64 bit machines

I install the 32 bit versions

Which Java do you have installed?

You can install the 32 bit version instead

That's what I do on my 64 bit machines and jschem works

Try uninstalling the 64 bit version and get the 32 bit version here on this page and see if that works

This page has both versions

Hi Doug

I was on the page you linked and I've read this

We have detected you may be viewing this page in a 32-bit browser. If you use 32-bit and 64-bit browsers interchangeably, you will need to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Java in order to have the Java plug-in for both browsers. »

As I use both browsers, I installed the 32bit version and didn't deleted the 64bit version that I had previously installed

Now with both versions installed all is fine and Jschem for windows opens regularly

Many Many Thanks

Franco

I use both versions of Opera  :icon_biggrin:
the old 32bit Opera 12.16 (that I prefer for the functions it has)
and
the new 64bit Opera 20.0 based on Chrome core (if I encounter particular difficulties)
I've also IE 11 that comes with windows, but I really don't know if it is 32 or 64 bit
Grazie Ancora
