I discovered one other particular tool

the Hytron Tube Lifter

a crowbar to be used with tubes  :w2:

isn't excessive and unsafe ?

It might be excessive. But I've had tube sockets so tight before that trying to wiggle or rock the tube out risked cracking the glass at the pins.

And the tool is only unsafe if you use it in an unsafe manner.

Look to be in steel = danger ,


 IMO  better to use your hand to not break the tube . If you need that tool something wrong with tubes / socket , better to see what before break the tube
