Title: Is there a Hoffman filter cap board for AB763 DR?
Post by: tubeswell on July 13, 2014, 01:04:02 am
i.e.: for the caps that sit in the doghouse?

(Couldn't see it for looking in the on-line store)

TIA

Hi, I don't have a drilled board for filter caps.
You could make your own very easy
It's less than 15 lugs or eyelets

I mount mine along the front panel under the pots and eliminate all that monkey business

Here's my Hoffman AB763 amp

Another easy method is to just set up terminal strips and string your caps between them
Super easy if you have some room inside the amp

Also, one more suggestion

Ever see the really old cap cans that had the caps glued inside with sticky rubber
And they had a wire bundle coming out a grommet hole?

No Board needed for that sort of arrangement

I always opt for not using a cap can, cap board and all that extra unneeded stuff

I really like having the filter caps inside the chassis and along the front edge under the pots

Thanks,
That was a bombed out Deluxe Reverb chassis that was part of a pile of amp junk I bought
The power transformer hole had been hacked

I installed one of my AB763 1 channel boards
I installed a 022798 power tranny which is the super reverb PT
I made a 2 x 10 baffle board for it

So it's a Super Deluxe Vibrolux reverb bastard  :icon_biggrin:

I still have this amp
It's my go-to amp for clean surf stuff

Yes it is beautiful work!

Well if that's a SR PT in there now, then they must have hacked it for a Twin Reverb PT?

Thanks and if I remember correctly, it had a twin PT sized hole and it might have had some bastard power tranny in it when I got it
This was in the late 90's and I have CRS disease

As you can see I had to use fender washers to get a grip on the chassis for the SR power tranny

Not to hijack this thread any more than I have but this is this amp

Hi Doug,
Do you have a photo of the caps under the pots that shows the view looking from the rear of the chassis? I'd like to see how you've mounted & ran the resistors. Also, is the white wires going to/from the pots all shielded? Hard to tell...

thanks-
