Post by: jazbo8 on July 17, 2014, 06:53:37 am
One of the greats (http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2014/07/17/world/europe/ap-eu-switzerland-obit-winter.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&version=HpHeadline&module=second-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0), played until the end... He will be missed.

I remember hearing his performance at the 1969 texas pop festival for the first time...wow. WOW.
He is a major inspiration, to say the least, and will continue living on in my brain until i die.

I saw him live maybe 7-8 times in Texas.  What a great player!   He had so much energy in the early days.  It was remarkable.

With respect, Jeff

Never been much of a fan but always recognized his great talent. He's always been there carrying on in spite of his problems Listening to that last post blues song reminds me a lot of SRV---not so much in his lead playing but in his vocal and guitar phrasing/cording. I thinking SRV must of have been a fan because it seems to have been reflected in his playing. Sorry to hear he's passed. Platefire

One of my favorites that I've ever covered in a band was this one:

We played this version which was a dual guitar assault by Johnny and Rick Derringer on "Roadwork" by Edgar Winter's White Trash (The best band name for an albino frontman!)
