Title: Hoffman AC30 - how close to JMI specs?
Post by: Big_Mike on September 16, 2014, 03:19:23 pm

I was looking at the Hoffman AC30 build page, and I was wondering how close the layout (without tremolo) is to an original 64 Vox Top boost model.  Anyone have any information in this regard?

It's the same schematic
Layout means, how the parts are arranged on a board

No way I would use a vox layout
What a nasty mess those are

I took the original schematic and created a Hoffman style layout without the trem channel

You can easily compare the two to see if you want to see the details
Schematics for AC30 and Hoffman AC30 are both on the library page

Thanks for the clarification on layout vs. schematic, you are correct, what I wanted to know was whether the Hoffman AC30 is the same as an original JMI schematic.  Sounds like they are.

Do a search on this board. You will find other recent Vox projects which include the trem channel if you wanted to have it. As Doug said, the trem channel is deleted on the Hoffman board.

When I create one of my layouts, I take the original schematic and then layout the parts via my own Turret lug designs.

I can't really make up a AC30 schematic, so I use a real AC30 schematic
