Title: Which reverb tank and transformer for Vibrolux and DR?
Post by: markmalin on October 05, 2014, 06:01:56 pm
Hi all

Hey, I need to know which Accutronics reverb tank and which reverb transformer the black face vibrolux used?
Then....same question for the BF Deluxe Reverb.

I tried accutronics' site which used to be helpful but seems to have changed...

Humbly,
Mark.

BF vibrolux has no reverb. tremelo only. maybe you were thinking vibroverb or vibrolux reverb?

it helps to know what specific circuit you're looking for - there are several circuits revisions associated with both BF era models, however, assuming that you mean the AB763 ckts.

BF deluxe reverb and BF vibrolux reverb use the same as all the other AB763 amps. 125A20B reverb driver tansformer and 4AB3C1B for the tank.

you can use any tank that has 8 or 10 ohm input impedance with 2K-2.5Kohm output impedance. there are differences in size (4, 8 & 9 series), # of springs, delay, mounting position, and input and output grounding.

And the Type 4, Long delay tank is stock as DL said. Unless the amp is for a customer, you might question if that is the best tank for you. I greatly prefer the Type 9, Medium delay tank.

That's because I, like a lot of people, find myself not turning the Reverb above '4' except for a novelty sound. The medium delay tanks would give you more range of useable adjustment of the Reverb pot in that situation, while the 6-spring tank has a smoother, "less springy" reverb quality.

I would have loved to hear the "12-spring reverb" setup Thunderfunk used with two 6-spring tanks designed to work together for an even better reverb quality.
