Title: HoSo56 minimalist
Post by: tubenit on November 19, 2014, 10:10:14 am
Another idea that I would love to build and probably will at some point.  I view it as a minimalist approach in the number of tubes (and one could use a solid state rectifier with proper PT for one less tube).  This could be built using Doug's 18w PT & OT if using a 5Y3GT rectifier.

However, it would have an active FX, PPIMV and a midboost. All of which I find to be very useful features.  The tone stack is borrowed from a Dumblish style that I modified for my current D'Mars ODS.

With the PPIMV and the active FX and only 7-9 watts of power, I think this would make a wonderful bedroom volume amp.

CHECK for ERRORS!  Compare schematic with layout.  If there is a discrepancy, go with schematic values, etc...

With respect, Tubenit

Added a 6AQ5 version.

Here is another HoSo56 Minimalist idea but it uses 6v6's and a concertina phase invertor

CHECK for ERRORS!  DRAFT idea.   Compare schematic with layout, if there is a discrepency ......... go with the schematic.

Actually built & proven schematic and layout for the "Minimalist with 5879 V1 and 6BM8's" attached.  3/7/2018 schematic & layout.  This amp has remarkable full sounding tone with good bass response at very low volumes.

thread for this build with photos is here:  http://el34world.com/Forum/index.php?topic=23013.0
