Title: Using spare pins on power tube sockets
Post by: TIMBO on December 10, 2014, 01:12:24 pm
Hi guys, I know it is the norm to use pin6 on power tube socket for a handy placement of the screen resistor, but what about using pin1 as a connection for the grid resistor.
This is how the Holden Wasp is done, good/bad idea?? Thanks

You can use pin 1 or any other unused pin as a connection point. Just be aware that certain tube types use pin 1 while others do not.

Yeah,,, don't wire it like that if you ever want to switch to EL34's

Thanks guys,I'll remove the grid resistor from pin1 and use pin6 to hold the end. Connect pin 1&8 to the 1ohm bias resistor as I have done in most of my builds.  :icon_biggrin:
