Man, my dad used to subscribe to all the "Popular X" magazines. What I'd give to have all those old back-issues he threw away over the years!

Thanks for the PE link Pete. PE was the first mag subscription I ever had (weekly reader doesn't count, right?). Loved that mag! This was one of my favorites...

my last merit badge for eagle was computers, with the help of a Honeywell guy I build a card reader based off plans he got from PE

"Theory of circuit design" was my glimpse into heavy detailing.

55 years later, Dan's compound output stage misses the mark. It worked for him, and many builders, but was high-strung and not fool-proof. But change it to Darlington, this IS the modern audio power-amp, except transistors are much cheaper today so we use a lot more for "small" benefits (lower THD) and major blessings (blow-up proofing).
