This is a simple mod that I have made switchable on my last couple builds.
It's for anyone who would like to hear how your amp would sound if your tonestack wasn't robbing a large portion of your mids.
I guarantee you will hear a huge difference and either love it or hate it, but either way you'll learn something.
This example is based off of the very common TMB tonestack found in most Marshalls, Fenders, etc., etc.,
The mod itself is loosely based off of Dumble's mid-boost switch,,,and I just happen to love it for certain pickups in certain situations.
Here it is:
- Change or make a switchable variation of your MID cap
- Change out the .022 or .05 or .1 stock values for a .002 or .001 (season to taste)
- Hear more of your guitar
- Have FUN!
- Here's the graphical representation of the change to a 'typical' Fender
- First pic is stock, second pic is mid "boosted"....ONLY CHANGE IS THE MID CAP VALUE!! Look at C3

And here's the same results with a 'typical' Marshall
