Title: 2 conductor shielded wire for PPIMV
Post by: hesamadman on February 06, 2015, 09:12:13 am
Hey guys,
I bought the two conductor shielded wire here at hoffman. Not realizing that it only had one shielded conductor. Will this be sufficient enough for shielding my PPIMV hookup? I figured I would use the shielded conductor as the outgoing wire to the el84's.

No. That wire is meant for a typical Fender footswitch where the shielded conductor is used for reverb and the unshielded conductor is used for tremolo (which doesn't require shielding).

I use Belden 8451 for dual/twisted pair, shielded cable. Mouser has it.

The insulation on the twisted pair is tough stuff! I laid my soldering iron tip right on it to test it and I had to leave it there for quite a while before it melted.

Oh I have an order on back order there. Maybe they will add that to it.
