Here's some sound clips of the Plexi 6V6 in action
Both clips are just the guitar plugged into the amp into a Marshall 4 x 12 cabinet with vintage 30 Celestions
Single coils used for chords and a humbucker used for the lead tones

I like the tone and your "since I've Been Lovin you" instrumental , very cool EL34
I have read lots arguments about smaller amps even 18w not pulling off the plexi thing to well and I have no experience to make that call.
I thought about trying to build a Bassman but the same argument was bought up in that a small wattage amp doesn't have the low punch and I know my previous JCM900 had punch but it was 100w 2x12.
At any rate I like that amp you built and your playing as well ! :guitar1

Thanks
A Bassman just does not have a good enough power supply like a Marshall does
They always seem flabby to me
The Plexi 6V6 has the better power supply like a big Marshall
That is, it does not share a filter cap between amp stages
It has better decoupling, etc than a sloppy old Fender power supply :icon_biggrin:

I believe you there , your tone through the 4 x12 is real good . Rocks :m7 :m7 :m7

Hi Doug,
Couple questions about this board. Apologies if this isn't the right place to ask.
1) Is there any reason why I couldn't use this with a pair of EL84's?
2) If I order the board with turrets installed, would you be able to flip it? My current chassis has the input Jack on the far left.
Cheers!

No. Just need a simple change in the bias supply and maybe a couple resistors in the PI. Board layout would be the same.

Doug's amp already has the input on the far left. Take a look...

But if you still need to flip it end for end (like the attached pic) then just mount the turrets on the bottom of the board. Automatic flip.

Looks like Steve beat me to it
Look at all the info on the library page
-
Excellent, thanks for the confirmation Steve!
Regarding turrets mounted on the bottom of the board, that's exactly what I was asking (albeit indirectly). Doug, can you mount the turrets on the bottom side of the board if I order loaded with turrets? :icon_biggrin:
Thanks again!
- Bryce
-
Yes, I can do that
Just add a note to your order to mount turrets on bottom of board
-
Thanks much!
