Hey all,
I'm building this amp for a friend.
Thought it would be fun to chronicle it.
It's about to get fun, from here it goes a lot faster.
I've got the skeleton done, cab is roughed in, chassis is folded and the holes in the front are in (got to open up the pilot a bit), the boards are drilled and turrets swagged in.
I'm not happy at all with the face plate, parts were to be vectored and instead the whole thing got rastered.
To make matters worse, I noticed a shadow while it was burning and a hint of what looks like a double exposure.
just as the faceplate was done, and the logos were about to be burned the laser stopped. we had fried the x stepper motor :(.

i got a bit carried away and instead of using a lug strip, i put in turret rows to land the leads from the mains transformer.
I did think the scalloped filter cap board was neat.
the main board is a bit larger than Dougs.
I use a bigger spacing and where a wire lands on the board, i drilled a hole in front of the turret to lace the wire thru kind of a strain relief,
if you look close, you can see a mistake i made while cutting the x-former mount, I was on the mill and just using the readout and didn't notice the numbers went negative and just sailed on past my stopping point.

" didn't notice the numbers went negative and just sailed on past my stopping point."
Invisible! No harm no foul.

Sort of a mock up looking down.
really not happy with that face plate.
I'll fix the laser then touch up the plate. I want the radii to match the cab.
The girl logo was to be vectored. it would have been "drawn" with a line about .006" and has a lot more detail.
being rastered, it was "drawn" with a line about .015"and the detail was lost.
I have to give thanks to my GF, she's really trying to understand all this.
she's visited me in the shop, asked a TON of questions.
put up with a mess in her office while i sort thru all my parts, typed up a BOM checked off what i had.
then on Valentines, she had me load a shopping cart here, just to see what it would cost to finish.
Later, she snuck in, logged on and ordered the components. Thanks Kristie :)

nah man! subconsciously you mean to do that! that's for extra much needed cooling. :icon_biggrin:

That is incredible, scalloped capped board! Brass? That cabinet pinned with dowels as well? Top notch

Thanks!
no brass, they are Dougs turret lugs.
I used to do fancy dovetail joinery, then went to finger joints, but I found simple butt joints reinforced with dowels to be the fastest, simplest construction that is more than sufficiently strong.
