Title: 13$ haul
Post by: Toxophilite on March 18, 2015, 10:04:23 pm
That's $13 Canadian which at the current exchange rate is about 75 cents US

2 Alnico Rolas from a Hammond organ(more on these)  one needs some surround repair
One is a bass repsonse speaker the other is for treble (different cone design, neat)

1 CTS 10" needs a couple small cone repairs (I like fixing speakers where possible)

and one ravaged chassis, weird smoked glass groove tube GT 6V6C (chinese)and a 6X5GT rectifier
Somebodies pulled the 12AX7 sockets. The tubes test good for what they are!
As does the multitap rough looking OPT (which judging from the chassis mount holes is a replacement...only bolted on with one bolt!!
Pt puts out 475 vdc after the rectifier with no tubes in (besides the rectifier)

Might be good for a tweed deluxe or vibrolux build or maybe another reverb unit

The funny about the speakers was , I sold these very speakers to a young friend a couple years back as replacements to go in a little leslie unit I also sold him. they were $10 for the pair then. Stumbled across them in a thrift store that had received them as donations after the friend and his mother had moved out of their house. I recognized them instantly

I had just recently tracked this guy down and asked him if he still had these speakers as I was contemplating using them for my stereo AB763 deluxes build.."Sorry" he said "I got rid of all that stuff when I moved!"
I guess I still made money on them as I spent about $3 for each thing

Good junk! Good price!

Unlike a semi-working old mono tube amp or integrated tuner-amp, with stuff like that there's no need to hesitate ripping it apart and trying to make something out of it.

Nice!

Don't get me going on the exchange rate. Ugh.  It is putting a dent in my pocket book for sure.  It's costing me 30% for exchange, plus 5% GST when I go pick my parts up at the US border (I live close enough to the border that it makes sense to do this on larger orders)

Yeah It's a nice little chassis to build something in and already desecrated!

I am working on a pile of junk here, locally. On Craigslist for 18 days, still there. There's a mono tube amp in there with nice old Sylvania 6L6's but I'm not going to overpay for it.
