One man's meat is another man's poison.
Two of a trade never agree
I got my 67 vibrolux running thanks to your patience. I started goofing around with it though..to get everything better and better. I stuck in the 3 watt/500v 100k metal oxide plate resisters to clean things up. At first I said "this kind of sounds like a new amp, cleaner to be sure." Then after about a month I came to the conclusion Hey, all my guitars sound like crap now. Then it came to me. "Back to the carbon comp resisters." Now I have my old amp back with all it's character and "noise". I'll take the imperfect noise I guess. Terry

I never found the hissing, sizzling noises and the intermittent rat-noises and squeals those resistors have produced in my amps to be anything desirable. To each his/her own.

I heard Keith Richards being interviewed on tv, he was asked about all the new digital everything, he replied (paraphrased) "it was perfect, absolutely spot on perfect, but it was S*&T, no soul, no heart, you can't identify the artist, they all sound the same"
