Title: 5E3 mods!
Post by: Champ_49 on April 29, 2015, 05:18:34 pm
Hey all.

Ok. This topic has probably already been mentioned, but do you guy know of any good mods you can do with the 5E3?  I have searched the internet and found a site by Rob Robinette..  He has an extensive list of mods with some very nice looking layouts and such.  Has anyone tried these mods?  I haven't seen a lot of forums talking about this so I thought I'd bring it up at least.  What do you guys think about Rob's mods? https://robrobinette.com/5e3_Modifications.htm

One thing I was confused about for the cascaded gain mod was I noticed he omitted the green ground wires that connect to some of the ground lugs of the inputs.  Some of the inputs don't even have a wire connecting to ground.  Not sure why this is??   :w2:  I am assuming the inputs get grounded to the chassis anyways via being tight up against it??

After building the completely "stock" 5E3 I decided I'd try and build another one but with some mods done to it.

Mods I was thinking of doing include:

1) the PRE-phase inverter master volume mod
2) cascade gain mod with a switch

I don't want to go overboard but I was trying to get this amp to be able to make a pallete of different tones.

Any thoughts??

What mods have you guys done to yours and how do you like it?

A friend has build this

He didn't use the added section as an OD, but if you want you can use it also this way, not only as FXLoop

also he used one channel or the other, but if you want you can parallel the input and reach a + 20-25% of gain

Thank Kagliosko  for the schematic.  Will take a good look at it!
