Title: vibrolux 6G11 vs Deluxe reverb Ab763 phase splitter circuit
Post by: Toxophilite on July 20, 2015, 02:37:47 am
I was looking at the differences between the 6G11 vibrolux and the 1b763 deluxe reverb and besides the obvious ones
6L6gcs vs 6V6s , no reverb and bias tremelo in the vibrolux etc

I noticed the phase splitter circuit and the negative feedback circuit is pretty different
THe voltages in the vibrolux PS are significantly higher and it has less negative feedback
I know what less negative feedback does

But can anyone explain how the different PS circuit affects the sound of the vibrolux compared to the AB763 PS

Is this a reasonable question?

The PS is almost the same, ie, 6G11 is 310V and DR is 325. The big difference in PI plate voltage is largely due to different tube types, ie, 6G11 uses 12AX7 and DR uses 12AT7.

Just put a 12AX7 in the PI of one of your AB763s to hear the sound difference. No harm will come. I'm thinking the sound may not be quite as clean when driven hard.

Hilarious
I can't believe I didn't see the 12AX7 instead of the 12AT7! I guess I made an assumption and became blind to the obvious! oy yoy yoy Not to mention getting my abbreviations mixed up. O meant phase inverter the whole time..oops

Thanks Steve!
