Title: Satriani & Johnson "Going Down"
Post by: tubenit on July 24, 2015, 11:58:09 am
This may be my all time favorite version of this song!  They are both such incredible players & I love it that they seem to enjoy one another's talent so much!

Cool
never seen that one before

Weird because Eric always seems to wear those big goofy headphones on stage
He is without his head gear in this video

There's only 1;

Written by Leon Russel, he's on piano, Duck Dunn on bass.

Freddy King, live 73', Dallas Tx, notes jump off his fret board and soar, great vibrato shakin' his left hand ;

Can't resist, 'Palace of the King', written by Leon R, great lyrics and he plays piano on it;

Yeah, I just listened to that this morning. I got that album when I was in high school.    :icon_biggrin:   (Max Middleton was a great keyboard player.) I saw Beck live twice back then with Jan Hammer, Blow by Blow era. He was still playin' 3 different guitars, a Strat, a Tele, and a Paul.

But Freddie schooled them all, along with BB and Albert, the 3 kings of the blues. Those guys re-wrote the book after T-Bone Walker wrote it the 1st time.    :laugh:

Stevie Ray and Beck used to play it as an encore when they were touring together.

Jimmi Vaughn said he saw Freddie playin through 2 Fender Quad (4x12") amps and was as loud as any thing he'd ever heard!   :help:

Guess he wasn't at Cali Jam.    :laugh:

Jeff Becks version from the Orange album is hard to beat

Stay tuned for Jeff's awesome solo at the 3:05 mark and again at the 5:08 mark

Yeah, that's the album I have.   :icon_biggrin:

No doubt he can play. And he was still just growing back then.    :w2:        :laugh:

I recorded this version of "Going Down" a few years ago. Maybe some of you have never heard it?   Not a very good recording, but I had fun doing it. Don't know if I've ever heard someone playing it with "some" slide parts before?
