Title: El 84 filament question Last question today :/
Post by: hesamadman on August 22, 2015, 07:44:49 pm
With a 12ax7, pin 9 is considered an internal center tap. So one of my filament leads goes to 4/5 and the other goes to pin 9. Does it matter which one of those leads goes to pin 4 or 5 of the el84. Like should 4/5 of 12ax7 be connected to pins 4 or 5 of the el84 or does this matter?

The general consensus is no.

Try it yourself. Hook it up one way, play & listen, then hook it up the other way & repeat.

You tell us if it made a difference.  :icon_biggrin:

(Only saying it this way because urban legends don't get put to bed unless you see for yourself.)
