Last week I've build a Plexi with a hot rod switch according to Doug's layout. I used 6V6 power tubes for less volume.
The amp is loud as hell!
Is it possible that the voltage divider with the 470K resistors is drawn wrong? I would think 1 res should connect to ground instead of connecting to the cap.
Can someone shed some light on this?
Thanx in advance.

It's not a voltage divider as drawn. Maybe Doug will say if he intended it to be a voltage divider.

Which schematic are you talking about?
Give me a link?

It's your plexi 50.

I don't know what to tell you except, yes the amp gets louder because you have a much larger signal peak to peak when you add in another gian stage
50 watt Marshall type amps are really efin loud
That's why many people like the 18 watt Marshalls
But they are really loud also
You can adjust the circuit any way you like to suit your needs
Maybe the guys here have some suggestions
I just leave my 50 watter with the switch on full time because it sounds so much fuller

Instead of a resistor to ground ........ use a volume pot prior to and another one after the hot switch gain stage. Then you can control it. That's what I've done.
You can install the one of the volume pots on the back of the chassis.
With respect, Tubenit

Thanks so far.
When I want to use the volumepots Tubeinit suggested, can I use 500K pots?

yes
