Title: 5e3 Choke
Post by: morton on August 30, 2015, 07:38:43 pm
Getting ready to build a Hoffman 5e3, was thinking of using a 125c3a choke from the Hoffman site. As I'm pretty new to this would it be OK to eliminate the 5k/5w resistor in lieu of the choke, or is there anything that I need to be aware of?
Thanks,
Gary

You might want to leave room in there for a dropping resistor. The choke probably will result in higher voltages along the power rail past that point. A choke also may affect touch response and it will affect "sag" in the power rail. Whether those are "good" things is up to your ears, but building it stock first and/or being able to switch back to the stock resistor value may be beneficial.
