One of my many crazy interests since I was a kid has been fireworks. Living in an area with many greenhouses there was an unlimited source of gunpowder chemicals! My friends and I would spend many a summer trying to blow ourselves up... I have always wanted to build my own fireworks and I hang out on a site with pros who build and fire for Disney and other top pro shows. The ATF regulations are long and difficult for the amateur. Every year there is a competition right here in my hometown with the top fireworks amateurs and pro companies who are vying for new business and are showcasing their latest and greatest. It is basically 4 hours of some of the most awesome displays you will ever see. This year it was 10 back to back. Here are some pro-am displays. To give you a reference, this is an average Joe (or Joe and his buddies) with a regular job, who is building the shells and fountains - usually taking an entire year. Along the way they will tweak the duration and timing fuses to correspond with the music and effect height. The firing programs are triggered by the soundtracks and again are based on the effect. This is an EXTREMELY difficult task. The results are breathtaking. Here are two great ones.... :worthy1:

Yeah I REALLY liked the Joe Cocker - Help From My Friends, and The Good The Bad and The Ugly theme. They were absolutely unbelievable live. Perfect timing. Plus they had a concert quality sound system that was blazing away to be heard over the explosions. Its hard to capture all that on a little video!
