Title: Phaser sound with heavy distortion
Post by: Ambugaton on November 07, 2015, 04:13:25 pm
Hello, I have the Stout TMB and a OCD in front. When I crank the drive I seem to get a little background phase effect. I cannot figure out what it is. Any ideas? This is the first amp i've had with tube rectifier... is that "sag"?

No, sag is a compression effect when an amp's output section is pushing beyond its max clean output power.

"Phase effect with heavy distortion" sounds like a tuning issue.

I assure it's not a tuning issue. It sounds like a frequency drop. It's very hard for me to explain though.
