Title: 1973 silverface Deluxe

Friend brought his 1973 silverface deluxe to me saying "It just doesn't sound right". And he was correct ! Main board was warped and distorted terrible from time and heat and it looked like it was used for show and tell for poor bench habits. Wires all over the place, poor solder joints broken loose etc. I replaced the board and all components on it. I tried to talk him into using carbon comps on it to to maintain the integrity of it but he liked " those little blue resistor things" . I tried to keep it looking like a 1973 production. It fired right up, bias'd properly and is stone quiet. I burned it in for 6  hrs with a CD player playing SRV looped. through a dummy load. Beautiful lush sounding, like it was new again. Before and after shots attached.

I know first hand this is a lot of work...  Good thing I have my big baby dog around to keep me company while I do these kinda projects... :laugh:

Thanks guys. Indeed it is a lot of work and I did have my chocolate lab under my feet there at the bench. A labor of love I call it, these amps helped a whole generation produce music that will never be done again IMO.....
