Title: Ground connection question ?
Post by: floyd on February 28, 2016, 04:44:39 pm
Hey guys.. how's everyone ,, and HAPPY NEW YEAR HUH ?!  My question is... to insure a secure ground connection between my control pots and my chassis.. should I hire someone with an Arc - Welder to eternally fuse the pots to the chassis ?  Seems to me , that would be a pretty good ground ? Or.. maybe have the pots , cast into the chassis ?! Been using heavy duty car jumper cables to ground stuff , but every time I put away the laundry , I always end up walking  through the jumper cables.. and they get disconnected..then , NO GROUND.. just HUM.. thoughts ?

No.. really.. should someone , as a respected builder, weld the pots to the chassis ? Seems like the best way to ground.. right ?! I f a pot goes bad.. all  you have to do is replace the chassis.. easy

Look..I posted an honest idea , that Ive had , for quite some time.. and a moderator shoots me down , and humiliates me  ? Maybe Mr. Slutsky should take a good look at his people skills.. I was just suggesting an alternative grounding method.. then all this.

I think you misunderstand. First I thanked you for dropping by, and even told you how blessed I felt that you posted again. When you said you wanted to talk to Doug, I said I had lost interest but suggested you go ahead.

Maybe you're having trouble reaching Doug? If you like, I can move this thread to a more appropriate forum where he will be sure to see it. LMK

I just want to share what I've learned.. I really think that Arc - Welded pots would be the best , in terms of a solid ground.. who could argue with that ?

floyd, what are you talking about?

You can't arc weld a pot to a metal chassis
There would be nothing left of the pot

Pots are not hunks of steel, They are aluminum, plastic and thin metal shells
