Title: Speed pot in PR
Post by: Shack on March 02, 2016, 12:44:36 pm
I wired up the 100k resistor to ground according to Dougs layout from the middle tab to ground. Then I noticed that the Fender layout ( and Dougs  PR ) had the resistor going from the middle and left tab to ground.

Is there a difference between the 2 wirings?

No difference as far as normal operation goes. But if the pot wiper fails, the pot that has the outer lug jumpered to the wiper will continue to operate at it's slowest speed, but the pot with one outer lug not connected will cause the trem to shut down. Either way you'll know something is wrong. I always connect the outer lug to the wiper when using any pot as a simple variable resistor.
